Macronutrients 101

Ok, so you have decided to get yourself in shape, you have begun psyching yourself up for that spin class, you’ve even been eyeing up the weight-room, but before you go diving in like that, it is super important that we grasp the basics of nutrition and just how crucial a healthy, tailored diet is when it comes to achieving your fitness goals. And no, that doesn’t mean you have to survive on plain chicken breasts and broccoli, we are here to help make healthy eating fun, right after we bore you to death about Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fats. (Those are the three major categories of Macronutrients, in case you didn’t see where I am going with this. *Nudge nudge, wink wink).

Do I really need to know all this? I can hear you thinking. Well, put it this way, you wouldn’t buy a new car and not bother to figure out what kind of petrol it needs to run, would you? Maybe you would, I don’t actually know you, but that’s not how we operate around here. So, allow me to keep things brief and to the point. Macronutrients are the nutrients the body needs in large amounts and these provide energy or calories if you will. 

As mentioned above there are three main subsets of macronutrients and all play vital roles within the body, getting a good balance of them all in your diet is vital to feeling energised, transforming that body, and leading a healthy lifestyle.
